I don't understand your need to ruin what's working well in the game. Until now, 1000 energy per strike was excellent for everyone, but you've changed that too. I believe the new system of 5000 per strike suits most players, but there are some of us for whom it doesn't. Therefore, to make everyone happy, I think it would be fair and honest to let us choose for ourselves how much energy per strike we want to spend.
