The purpose of Eid al Adha is not simply the slaughter of an animal. It is an act of obedience, sacrifice and devotion to Allah swt, following the example of Prophet Ibrahim aleyhissalam when he was willing to sacrifice what was most beloved to him for the sake of Allah. Another important purpose is helping others. The meat is shared with family, friends and especially the poor, so everyone can eat and celebrate during Eid.
May Allah ease the pain of our brothers and sisters in Gaza and whole Palestine, Sudan, Afghanistan, Syria, Arakan and the Rohingya, and every land where Muslims and all nations living under oppression are struggling with poverty, displacement, persecution and hardship. May He grant patience to the oppressed, mercy to the martyrs, healing to the wounded and strength to those trying to survive each day.
O Allah, accept our sacrifices, forgive our sins and fill our hearts with mercy, patience and gratitude. May this blessed Eid bring peace, health and happiness to you and your families.
“It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah, but it is piety from you that reaches Him.”
