Hello eRevollution citizens,
This will probably be the most personal article I have ever written in all the time, be it present or back roughly 10 years ago. It is a bit of a confession (Not anything bad, I am sure most veteran players will likely relate to this) as is a thank you note.
Now... let's get to business.

Why did I return after 10 years?
One of these days, I was heading to work using public transportation and for some unknown reason I remembered playing eRevollution and decided to take a look at the game. At first I've read my own articles and articles from players I used to know from back then and get along with. To the ones who don't know, I'm not Real Life American, but despite that, I love USA pretty much the same way as I love my real life country Portugal. Sure, it's two very different realities but both have a special place in my heart.
After reading the articles and figuring out a bit of what happened to this virtual country in my absence, I felt nostalgic enough to want to return and play this again. To give the game another shot. But now comes another question ... I returned and found a very different eRevollution to the one I left 10 years ago.

What did I find?
I also found out that only a fraction of what used to be the active lation of the game back in 2016 still plays this, most people that worked with me and even served in the same government cabinets as me, alliances and even friend groups have mostly moved on and no longer play. Be it because of their real lives or because they found other things to play, it doesn't change the fact they moved on.
I found out that eUSA had a rocky history, that my sucessors allowed entire groups of people into the country only to see it PTOed a few times until the said groups moved on to other things. This last bit saddened me a lot because ... I did warn several of the guys I played with regarding security reasons and measures. While I do understand it is tempting to accept to integrate entire Military Units into the country due to activity and military damage and to make the country a respectable superpower, they should have realized they were also handing the country's independence on a silver platter.
I also found an eUSA devoid of it's original players and without the majority of it's old blood and even new potential blood.

How do I feel?
The nostalgia and the will to play are still here but I do miss a lot of people in this game. Which leads me to the final stages of this article ...
Assuming the logic that, if I felt nostalgic enough to go read old articles from 10 years ago from a game I no longer played, it is fair to ume old players from my time might just do exactly the same one day. Given this ... I will leave a short message to each one of them with some words.

What was my biggest failure in the game?

I can't remember the name of the Serbian CP from my time as Mutual Defense Alliance (MDP) Supreme Commander but he is the only man in this game I have failed. Granted I didn't do it on purpose but it was a time where MDP's members were bloodthirsty and with a high drive for vengeance. A NAP was required so MDP could focus its damage on other war fronts but we couldn't find common ground for a NAP between MDP and Serbia. It was my biggest failure as a diplomat in this game. It was my failure because it didn't happen. Because I failed to convince my own block to not make absurd demands in war repairs along other quite humiliating terms for Serbia, despite how hard I tried.
I was never in a position where I could make up for it, but I remember it well enough to know and recognize my own negotiation skills failed that day. Sometimes, we leaders need to take a step back and recognize where we failed and above all, try to learn something from it.
Apart from it, I have always done my best to stay true and to stay fair. I reckon that sometimes, in my own path to make sure the game kept a certain level of integrity, I may have alienated some people that played with me but regardless of it, I have always stayed true to my values and that is something I will always.

Tanishq - I'd be remiss if I didn't mention her. She was my game eWife (the relation was platonic and restricted to the game) for years and the person who supported me and my ingame projects the most. I owe her a great deal and I do miss playing this with her.
SpitfireYG - Also known as Ace. We went through several stages you and me... we were comrades in the same Military Unit, the old Seal Team 6... we were political opponents and we even battled in a Presidential election... I may not have always agreed with you and I did my best to warn you and open your eyes to the dangers of some of the decisions you've ended up making, but I did respect you. I miss playing this with you.
EddieA - You were a bit of a comedian back then, really funny guy but when it came to moving around politics, you knew your way around. Again, we didn't always agree with each other... god knows how many times we fought over stuff we didn't agree, but I can't fault you for wanting the same I did: the best for eUSA.
Arith - Ah old friend... you and I come from way before eRevollution. We played other similar games together and I have always enjoyed your energy and your dedication and above all, your appreciation for the laws. I've always respected you and I was both happy when you served in my cabinet and when I had the chance to serve in your cabinet when you were President. I have also enjoyed to do radio shows with you, eNPR was a huge success back then!

Diesel - Ah man .. You had such dreams for this country but you missed your eye from the ball and then you asked your balls to be removed from your body and mailed to Ace... You risked too much and you played with fire too much, so much, you got yourself burnt. I hope you have learned something from it.
Waffle - The stress from your only Presidential term got to you but you were doing a very good job. You should have pushed to the finish and to be honest with you, we've played different games together and I do miss you. You had a very pragmatic mind, sometimes devoid of sentimentality and a huge sense of organization. It was a pleasure working with you and serving as your Vice President.
Tricky Dick - You were fun to work with but I have a sense of pride to see you were a good CP, to know you raised the bar from the time you were my Community Liaison and you've done a lot for this country. I miss playing with you.
Thomas Killah - We have not always seen eye to eye, in some occasions you even changed your name to John Wilkes Booth (the actual Lincoln in from Real Life History) just for banter which I did find amusing, but getting down to business, I have always respected you. You are missed.
Shiro and nakituminayashi - You were both my biggest opponents when I was President and we went to war. But we had a brotherhood forged in blood that lasted for years. I do miss both of you and playing with you. You both had always something to say and a clever way out of situations. Also... cuban cigars! Maybe one day we will get the chance to share them!
Alejandro Madrid - We played at least two different games of this kind and in both, we were allies and we developed a friendship that lasts for over a decade now. Granted we spend long times without talking but you're one of the few people out there who not only knows my real name, but has access to me outside the game and game discord. Given the way we both think, I'd be scared if we were enemies because there would be no rock standing after we were done with each other. Ahahaha Nevertheless, I wanted you to know I respect you and I miss playing with you as I recently told you.
ktab - Interesting enough, you were one of those few people who could almost read into my mind and know exactly what I was thinking. You were the only person back then who understood how frustrated I got by failing MDP and Serbia to reach a deal and how much I took it upon myself over it. Not one single time you've put me down. You knew enough to know that my own consciousness was enough punishment over it just like you knew you were similar in that aspect. You were a pragmatic leader, granted you've had your failures, just like we all have but you've always tried to do the best you could.
Kinyas - I owe you an apology. I rejoined another game and left you hanging. Real life happened, changed work places and it all got chaotic. I should have replied you, it's no excuse but nevertheless, I am sorry my old friend.
Diamond Lady - You are undoubtly someone I'd love to say a lot of things but privately. Nevertheless, you had a sense of humor (sometimes pretty dark I have to admit), a pragmatism, a pulse and a sense of fairness rarely seen. We both served as Moderators and we used to spend hours analysing cases of large chains of multi-accounts. You were the only person that actually made that part fun because the banning standards were high and the evidence needed to be undeniable. You were also the only person who stood up and suggested time and time again that Moderators shouldn't hold political offices ingame due to the high risk of bias. I reckon you were right, as you normally would be about most things.

I have to admit I was amazed to see some people from the old days still playing. I know this sounds a lot more like a sentimental sappy article but I do miss the old days. Whether it is possible to bring some of it back ... it remains unknown but who knows what the future holds?
I guess it is time to look ahead and we always have and possibly, demand higher standards from the Admins and more transparency too!
Kind regards,
Signed,

My meeting took longer then I expected.
My life has taken a different direction and I don't know if I could ever exist in the way I use to but to all I wish them well.
