Because today is International Cat Day.

For the next 24 hours, all other news has officially been clified as significantly less important.

Around the world, cats are celebrating in the traditional ways: sleeping in inconvenient places, demanding food immediately after being fed, sitting in boxes that are clearly too small, and ignoring humans who call their names.
Humans are encouraged to participate accordingly.

Admire a cat.
Feed a cat.
Compliment a cat.
Give up your chair because a cat has decided it belongs to them now.
And, if you're lucky enough to be chosen, provide a lap without moving for an unreasonable amount of time.

But today also belongs to the cats who don't have a favorite chair yet.
The ones waiting in shelters, wandering the streets, or still looking for a human of their own.

So give an extra treat, offer a little kindness, help one if you can and appreciate the creatures who somehow manage to take over our homes, our beds and, eventually, our entire lives.
